Dr. Glenn Crocker (CEO, BioCity Nottingham Ltd)

 Glenn Crocker has a first degree in Genetics from The University of Nottingham and a D.Phil in Immunology from Oxford University.
Following a period of post-doctoral research, Glenn joined Ernst & Young and qualified as a chartered accountant. He then spent several years in Palo Alto, Ca. as part of Ernst & Young’s biotech practice working with companies at varying stages of development.
In 1999, he returned to England to head up E&Y’s UK biotechnology practice, based in Cambridge. Here he developed a team providing advice and support to emerging bioscience companies in areas such as business plan development, strategic advice, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions and IPOs.
Since June 2003, Glenn has been Chief Executive of BioCity Nottingham Ltd., a company focused on providing support and infrastructure to companies in the emerging bioscience industry in the East Midlands.

 

Professor Ian A. McDonald

  Professor Ian Macdonald is Director of Research for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Professor of Metabolic Physiology, University of Nottingham. Involved in overall research strategy for the Faculty, plus personal research involving metabolism and nutrition in relation to obesity, diabetes, and exercise.

Research interests concern metabolic and nutritional disturbances in health and disease, with specific interests in obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and exercise. Published over 250 peer-reviewed original research papers, together with reviews, book chapters and invited contributions. Currently joint Editor of the International Journal of Obesity, civilian advisor on nutrition to UK Ministry of Defence, member of the Food Standards Agency’s Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition, and President of the (UK) Nutrition Society.
